FAQ / BEFORE YOU HEAD OUT

Timing & Seasons — Indonesia Nightlife FAQs

Practical answers to the questions travellers ask before a night out in Indonesia.

01

What time do Bali beach clubs and nightclubs close?

Think of Bali as several overlapping schedules: a daytime beach club, sunset drinks and a later indoor dance floor. FINNS publishes daily hours of 11 am to midnight, while special events can differ. Dedicated music events may continue later: check the specific dated listing rather than relying on a generic map entry. A venue's opening time is not necessarily the headline DJ's set time. Confirm last entry, closing time and transport before setting out, and leave room for changes caused by holidays, private bookings or local restrictions.

02

What closes during Nyepi, and can I go out the night before?

Nyepi is Bali's Day of Silence, observed by visitors as well as residents. Plan to remain within your accommodation during the 24-hour observance; normal road travel, entertainment and airport operations stop, with emergency exceptions. Ask your hotel about meals, lighting and internet arrangements, and arrange supplies and transfers beforehand. The preceding evening can include Ogoh-ogoh processions and road closures. Attend respectfully and follow local directions. Confirm your year's official date and transport notices before booking flights or boats; a normal club timetable does not apply during Nyepi.

03

Do beach clubs stay open in the rain, and is the wet season quiet?

Some venues keep their covered bars and restaurants running through ordinary rain, but pools, outdoor performances and beach access may be affected by conditions. Rain does not automatically mean a refund: read the terms for your exact booking before paying. Choose a venue with an indoor alternative if the forecast looks unsettled, and check BMKG's local warnings before travelling. Crowd levels depend on the event and holidays as much as the season. A wet-season visit can still work well if you keep the day's schedule flexible.
